RED MERIDIAN, INT'L

PROFESSIONALS FOR A PRICE

RED MERIDIAN INT'L

RMI is a scrappy outfit comprised of the world's weary soldiers, tactical specialists, brilliant minds, and defectors yearning for purpose and a place to belong. Our goal is to become a sovereign international force that can advocate for mercenary interests. We are a complex mercenary conglomerate inspired by Metal Gear, Shinra, and more. We play a faction that operates outside traditional power structures, navigating the tightrope between legitimate society and underground operations. We go through seasons of plot where the direction may change in accordance to what happens in the roleplay. Our RP aspires to be immersive, complex, and rewarding. Our moral alignment is not fixed; characters should expect an ambiguous, shifting environment.Noncombatants may find a place in support roles such as public relations and engineering. We also publish a semiregular newspaper, The Freelancer.

PLAYER CODE

We don't just want to tell you what not to do, we want to help you be more successful as a new member. Here are some guidelines and expectations that will help you thrive. Our fundamental standard: Members are expected to use proper capitalization, punctuation, quotation marks, etc. Everybody makes mistakes, but please make an effort so others can understand you.

Don't tune out.
If you plan to mute the server, please reconsider. We use Discord extensively to enrich our RP, post and run events, give summaries, and even as an IC linkpearl. We don't expect you to treat this as a part-time job, but you do need to put regular effort into keeping up. Dropping out means you may miss important context that makes sense of stories and characters and it will leave you confused and disengaged.
Set realistic expectations.
No FC can be everything you want it to be. We will make our best effort to be inclusive, mindful of preferences, and open to suggestion, but we can't promise an experience free of friction. We need you to be flexible and forgiving.
Compromise is king.
If your character is the best duelist in the world, it requires every other RPer to lose to you in every competition forever to remain true. This isn't tenable in a group setting and it's not compatible if another RPer comes along and decides they're actually the best duelist in the world. There will be times we all need to compromise our vision to fit in with a group of other autonomous players because none of us are the main character.
Simply put: you cannot "win" every single RP interaction -- nobody can. Some of the best RP can come from dealing with curveballs and you forgo that opportunity when you ragequit over RNG. Please be willing to let others shine and be a good sport so they can return the favor. RP is a team sport.Read the room.
Every FC has a culture and joining a place full of new people can be intimidating. We expect everyone to have basic social skills and be civil with one another. If things get heated, please step away from the situation. We all share the common goal of good roleplay, but we also strive to have a friendly, mature space OOC.
Be a good participant.
Honor your commitments, be on time, and come prepared. If you don't know what's going on but want to get involved, ask to be caught up before the event starts. Bring your enthusiasm and investment; a DM can only present you with situations and problems to be solved, they cannot write your character doing cool things. If you sideline your character and don't invest in the situation, you will not do interesting things.
Be more than a tourist.
We want characters to belong, not merely visit. Treating the company like a casual hobby your character drops into when they're bored does not make for a very interesting environment.
We challenge you to ask yourself some questions to help generate investment:- If your character has all the money and resources they need, why join a mercenary company?
- What are they looking for here?
- What do they want to accomplish here?
- What do they need from other people and/or from the company itself?
